How did you get involved with Mariners Inn?

  • I work for an organization that often refers clients to Mariners Inn.

Why does the mission of Mariners Inn matter to you?

  • The mission matters because Mariners Inn offers an array of services that cater to the entire family, not just the individual.

What advice would you give someone interested in getting involved with Mariners Inn?

  • Volunteer because Mariners Inn offers so many services that there are many areas where help is needed.

What is your favorite thing to do in Detroit?

  • Eating! There are so many great restaurants in the city of Detroit.

How did you get involved with Mariners Inn?

  • I’m in the final stages of my Master’s Program, and I needed an internship to finish my program. Mariners Inn seemed like a great choice for me.

Why does the mission of Mariners Inn matter to you?

  • The mission matters because here at Mariners we focus on the client. The mission, much like the organization, is client based.

What advice would you give someone who’s interested in getting involved with Mariners Inn?

  • Volunteering here is a great experience. Through helping others, you will learn a lot about yourself.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Detroit?

  • Shopping! I am originally from Canada and there are stores in the United States that we don’t have in Canada, like Target!

Tell us how you first got involved with Mariners Inn.

  • My master’s program requires that I perform field work in my area of study.

Why does the mission of Mariners Inn matter to you?

  • Homelessness and substance abuse are big problems in Detroit, both issues are important to me.

What advice would you give someone who’s interested in getting involved with Mariners Inn?

  • I would tell them be ready to work, and be surprised! There is always work to do here, and the residents are very friendly.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Detroit?

  • Going to the DIA has always been my favorite. I also enjoy the Detroit Main Library and its architecture.

Tell us how you first got involved with Mariners Inn

  • My school, University of Detroit Mercy had Mariners listed as an intern site. After doing research, I decided that this would be a good fit for me to continue my training.

Why does the mission of Mariners Inn matter to you?

  • The mission focuses on treating the whole client. We focus on family and stabilizing the client.

What advice would you give someone who’s interested in getting involved with Mariners Inn?

  • Be prepared for an environment that is fast paced, yet runs like a well-oiled machine.

What is your favorite thing to do in Detroit?

  • I love going to the Detroit Institute of Art!

  • I was seeking out an internship to finish my final year of schooling.

Why does the mission of Mariners Inn matter to you?

  • The mission of Mariners Inn matters to me because the focus is the client. The variety of programs offered here contribute to helping an individual recovering in every aspect.

What advice would you give to someone who’s interested in getting involved with Mariners Inn?

  • The opportunities for volunteering at the Mariners Inn are endless. With so many programs offered, there is always work to be done! Get involved with as much as you can. Volunteering in such a lively, friendly environment is rewarding.

What is your favorite thing to do in Detroit?

  • Going to the shops downtown, and eating at the great restaurants!
