Mariners Inn will host its 26th annual River Rhythm gala fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 at the Sound Board at Motor City Casino. Rhonda Walker, anchor at WDIV-Local 4 and founder of the Rhonda Walker Foundation, will act as the evening’s mistress of ceremonies.
The evening will also feature entertainment by Serieux, speed painting by Martina Hahn, a plated dinner, silent and live auctions, and an award ceremony honoring the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan as well as Gregg Solomon and Jacci Woods of Motor City Casino.
The theme of this year’s black-tie-optional event is “Growing Dreams,” inspired by Mariners Inn’s community garden and by the dreams that may be rediscovered through the recovery process.
Funds raised by River Rhythm support Mariners Inn services, with 90 cents per dollar directly benefitting programming. Last year Mariners Inn provided vital recovery services to more than 700 homeless men, as well as family and youth outreach services, focused on family reunification, to 340 individuals.
“River Rhythm is an opportunity for us to honor the individuals and generous donors who have supported our mission and made possible the continued expansion of our services, which now includes at-risk youth and young adults,” said David Sampson, chief executive officer of Mariners Inn. “We are humbled and excited that Rhonda Walker has joined us on this journey to help save lives.”
